Some Things We Can Know
Here's the message from Wednesday night's revival meeting. Looking around our world today, there is so much uncertainty. You could wake up tommorrow and not have a job, you could lose all you have in this world...some things you just can't count on. But the Bible tells us that we can count on GOD! And there are things we can KNOW without a shadow of doubt in this life. And knowing those things, taking them into our hearts and leaning on them, can make the uncertain not seem so bad.
I want to take time out to praise the Lord for what I feel like, slowly but surely, he is doing in our church. I haven't been saved and in church for long at all and I remember thinking that revivals were held so lost people could get saved. In every revival I've been too, my foremost thought, or at least one of them, has always been "I wonder whose gonna get saved?" But I know this morning that, although people getting saved would be a blessing, this time around that's not my main concern. For the first time, I've gone into revival with the #1 desire to see myself changed, shaped, refined...so at the end I'm a little more for God than I was before. #2 I want my church to be revived #3 I wanna see someone saved. So enjoy another message by Brother James York...you may not know him but I ask you to pray for him as he seeks the Lord's will in our revival.
It was brought to my attention that some people weren't able to get the player on this site to work with their computer so I am adding the external links at the end of all posts so you can listen directly from the archive.org site.

Fill Er Up...
"But the fruit of the Spirit is dressing right, shouting loud, running the isles, bragging about how good we are, talking right..."
What? That's not Galatians 5: 22-23! However, the way most church folk view the evidence of the Holy Spirit, it ought to be!
Brother James York preached about how we can know we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and its a far cry from what we normally view as spirit-filled.
The part that really really stuck with me, was how Brother York pointed out that the fruits of the Spirit are all INWARD qualities, not outward. We tend to think a service was spirit-filled if the preacher hollered and spit and if the men shouted "AMEN" really loud, outward things. But without discernment, we make these mistakes. We make snap judgements of people's spirituality based on what we can see on the outside.
The Holy Spirit always deals with the inner man...for, as Brother York points out, if God can get on the inside, He can control the outside.
Enjoy this message...take it to heart. For without the Spirit, what we do for the Lord is in vain.

Whoops in a Good Way...
We accidently left the recorder running at church last night after the preaching and caught the kids singing...the recording is not the best, but I'd like to share with the world our kids at church. I'm so proud of each of them. They always have a song to sing and enthusiasm...something us adults need alot of. So enjoy a few songs...there are 4 on this one track, so when the first song stops, don't cut it off. You may have to crank your volume on the verses and then back it off on the chorus, but I know they'll be a blessing to someone!

Revival Meeting: Monday Night
Calvary Baptist kicked off it's first ever revival last nite with James York preaching. Brother James hit us first thing with a hard, but needed message warning us about what can happen when our love for God grows cold. Revival these days, true revival not just meetings, costs quite a bit and I hope we're willing to pay the price for it, because if our little church can get a little fire about us we'll be able to make a real difference for the Lord in these last days.
WARNING!!!! If you don't like being convicted of sin, this may not be the best message. But if you recognize conviction by the Holy Spirit as God's means of bringing you closer to HIM and making your spiritual life better, than you will appreciate the "whoopin".
Grab your Bible and some bandaids...

Dozing Off...
"And that, knowing the time, that now it is hight time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The niht is far spent , the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light."
Romans 13:11-12
Not much to expound on there! Look around and you'll see there's not alot of people awake for God.
Brother Kevin Melton reminds us of the danger of dozing off in these last days.

Are You Sure?
Been an awful long time since I posted any messages. Our church has gone through a period of transitioning and I just praise God for HIS guiding hand and loving kindnesses. We now are in our church building as Calvary Baptist Church, still in Jamestown Tennessee. It would take a much longer post to tell of all that the Lord has done for us, but we're growing, slow and steady. The most important thing in any church is not how many pews you fill but how much of the Holy Spirit those people FEEL when they come in. Numbers , though they are important to man, couldn't mean a hill of beans to our God.
Well, we've had some solid preaching and here is one that is no exception.
In this world we live in, times are uncertain. The economy is uncertain, nations are at war, power house countries are being brought to their knees. But, as the Bible warns, things will only get worse as we look for the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ. So in these uncertain days there is really only ONE thing a person, every person, ought to be sure about...are they ready to meet God. Are their souls safe in the haven of Jesus' blood? That's the business of the day.
Brother Bradley Bowden preaches to us on making our calling and election sure in this message from several weeks back. Enjoy!
