Hide and Seek

We all know how to play that game, right? What is crazy is that most people try to play hide and seek with God and what's more...they actually think they're good at it. Proverbs 15:3 says "The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good." Sobering thought, isn't it?
This message preached by Brother Kevin Melton is an excellent reminder, not just to the lost, but to those who are born again that God knows it all, sees it all, and controls it all.
Enjoy!

Are You Serious?!!!!!

This morning, I'm praising God for His goodness. I have been privilaged over the last, almost 7 years of being saved to hear some good preachin'. I can honestly say that so much of that good preaching, I've heard recently. And that encourages me. I'm sure if you've got any sense at all, you can see how things in this world are going...our nation is in trouble, it's people are in trouble, and the church as a whole is not helping, I'm afraid. So the fact that we're living in the last days...days when people everyday are sittin' down and quittin' on God, and I can honestly say that the good preaching I've heard is coming in these last days is encouraging. There are still men who will preach the truth, many of them in my generation. And there are still people who love the Lord and love the preaching of His Word, annointed and approved by Him. There are still those whose ears aren't all itchy for something superficial and watered down.

This message was preached by Brother James York, a young , on fire preacher at Wright's Chapel Baptist Church on a Thursday night. Brother York preaches on the solemn days in which we are living. So many Christians seem to be living their lives seemingly unconcerned that there are troubled people all around us that need Jesus. We're not serious...we don't take God's Word serious, His service serious...nothing really. This message will challenge you and it's the truth...I'm afraid so many churches have kicked the Holy Spirit out of their churches and he'll never darken the doors again and without that Spirit, there will be no conviction and where there is no conviction, their will be no new births. How serious are you taking these last days...

Putting Your Vineyard Up On The Market?

Wow...that's really all I can say about this message I heard the other day on Old Paths Sermons.org by Ralph Sexton Jr. Preached in 1987 in a tent at the foot of the Washington Monument, this one made me cry. The Spirit was all over it, even 22 years after it was preached and it rang so true. I got so excited about what I was hearing, I about decapitated myself on the kitchen ceiling fan (as I was cleaning off the top of the fridge) Note to self and you...when listening to this message, refrain from being on ladders as you might just have a spell and fall off and injure yourself. You think I'm exagerating...I'm not. The text was from the story of Nabol and his vineyard, when Ahab came to buy it from him. It challenged me to consider what is at stake if I sell my vineyard to the Devil...how much we stand to lose...how much we have already lost. This is where the church is at today and I couldn't help but be amazed that in that day a fundamental could pitch a tent in the nations capital and preach like Brother Sexton did and not be thrown into prison, be dragged into court by the ACLU or whooped after the meeting! How far this nation has come... Listen to this one! It'll help you...

What's the Hold Up?

"When a man wants to beat a dog, they say he can always find a stick to do it with, and when a man wants to find excuses for not believing in Christ , he can always discover one somewhere or another."
Charles Spurgeon

HINDER:
1.
to cause delay, interruption, or difficulty in; hamper; impede:
2.
to prevent from doing, acting, or happening; stop:
3.
to be an obstacle or impediment.

We all face obstacles in life...saved or unsaved. It's how we handle the obstacles that makes all the difference. Paul, in Galatian 5:17 asks the scathing question "...Who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?" If you're saved, what keeps you from moving forward, from growing? Sin, more than likely...the devil and the flesh? If you're not saved, what keeps you from being saved? What lies is the Devil whispering...what misconceptions keep you from obeying the Holy Spirit? We can choose to let what stands in our way stay in our way, or we can go around it, over it, under it, through it. It's our personal choice.

This message is preached by Brother Greg Jenkins at Wright's Chapel in Jamestown TN. He's a true preacher of the truth. It's good to know there are still men that will stand and give the WHOLE counsel of God , popular or unpopular. In this message he puts us face to face, saved and unsaved, with our obstacles and leaves us with a choice... to stand still or move on. Enjoy!

Thank God I Am Free...

Okay, so after this morning's post, I got on the ball and tried to upload again. I am so very appreciative for Internet Archive for being free and efficient!

So, here is a brand spanking new message from a preacher I admire greatly. His name is Brother Kevin Melton. Brother Melton is a solid, grounded man of God. As long as I have known him and heard his preaching, best I can tell, he's never backed up, never compromised. That speaks volumes in light of the movement of change and compromise ripping through even our fundamental churches.

This message was preached at Wright's Chapel in Jamestown TN. The pastor is Brother Denver Davis . This message was preached on a Thursday night service about 2 weeks ago. Brother Kevin preaches about the difference between being set free and being MADE free...there is a difference and Praise God for that! Get ready to be blessed...

An Apology and A Proposition...

Okay, first off, so sorry that I haven't posted anything new. There's enough on here to plow your garden for a while, however...but I am working on getting some new things posted. So, there's the apology. Now, for the proposition...I would like to start posting some testimonies on here. Real conversion stories by real converts. I love hearing how God has changed lives and I can't imagine I'm the only one blessed by a good ole' testimony! So, here's what I want you to do...pray about it , first, ask God to help you pen it (or email it) down then send it to this email address...

fireinthechurch@gmail.com

Okay, so, there it is. While you're waiting for new things, enjoy what's already on here and visit the sites that are credited at the end of the posts and get me those testimonies. I can't wait to see how God will use them! Have a blessed day!

I'm Amazed...

I am amazed at how God's Word works. It truly is a supernatural book. No other book I know does what it does. It's the living Word of God. . . given to us. That ought to humble us and make us want to read it every once in awhile. The one thing about the Bible (1611 KJV, to be exact) that continues to keep me in awe is how one passage of scripture can yeild different things to different people in different situations at different times. One verse may minister to me in one way and the person next to me in the pew on Sunday who is in a totally different situation. I heard a preacher the other day make the comment that you could preach the Word forever and never preach everything contained in the book. I was made accutely aware of this the other day when I heard two great messages by (yep, you guessed it) Handley Milby...both using the same text, but geared in two different directions. What they did have in common was both messages were smothered with the Holy Spirit. The text is from the Story of Noah in Genesis. The first is directed to the blood-washed born again children of God urging us to look to Noah as inspiration for right living (and before you think it's one of those flowery messages, Brother Milby hammers down on sin...alot and I say, More power to him!) and the second was geared toward the lost...those who fail to make it right with the Lord before they leave out of this world, who will one day find themselves outside the ark begging to get inside. So, enjoy both of these...I certainly did.

Family Matters...

Alright, I have figured out how to embed my own library of messages, so look forward to some more great preaching. While you wait, take a listen to Brother Milby. If I believed in following a man, I'd start a Brother Milby fan club :) But since I realize it's all God, I'll give HIM the credit, as I'm sure Brother Milby wouldn't mind.
I have heard some good preaching on the home in the last several years. The home is near and dear to my heart because as a momma of three small children and a homemaker, the home is my business. And the saying certainly rings true that your church is only as spiritual as your home. There's a reason the devil attacks the home and the Christian family so hard...he knows if he can get your home, he'll not have to worry much about how effective a church is going to be. Every now and then, we need good preaching on the home...sort of preventive maintenance. Brother Milby delivers in this message. Be prepared to get your toes stepped on, but don't get mad...get things right if the Spirit convicts you. The shame is not in messing up in our Christian lives (God knows we're going to do that), the shame is knowing we messed up and are still messing up and too stubborn to come to Jesus, our advocate and get things fixed up. Enjoy!

Glad I Chose the Jordan!

I am still living on the residuals of Sunday night services at the little church me and my large family attended. It was not just service...it was "meetin' "! The message was on Hell and if I can get a copy, I will be posting it! I cried the whole time during the preaching cause I was so thankful that I didn't have to go to hell!!!! Well, leave it to Brother Handley Milby to give me a second dose of spirit filled preaching to encourage me and leave me Praising God! I have heard several messages in my relatively short time as a Christian about Naaman the Leper. They were good, but this one...THIS ONE...is the best, hands down in my opinion. Well studied out and annointed by the Holy Spirit, this one is a MUST HEAR!!!!! Blessings!

It's Time To Plow...

So, I thought today I'd post this message by Brother Handley Milby from the Sounds of the Gospel Trumpet site. I really appreciate the messages I've heard on this site and in particular the ones by Brother Milby. He is consistent...I think that is so important in these days where everyone seems to jump from one thing to another. He also has the power of God and if a preacher doesn't have that...leave him alone! I say praise God for MEN who will stand and proclaim the truth! This message by Brother Milby will bless any Christian, saved by the grace of God...but it's aimed at preachers and if you're a preacher and you need a reminder of why you do what you do or you need a little encouragement...here it is...sent straight from the LORD. Enjoy!

If I Gained the Whole World and Lost Jesus

This message by Brother Joe Henry Hankins was a barn burner! In this day, everyone is "saved", no one is going to hell, and people are relying on everything but Jesus to get them to heaven! Jesus is the only way, yet people seem to think they can slip in unnoticed some other way. The majority of this world is working to get things down here...money, possessions, joy. But the ONLY thing that matters in the end is if you've been saved...really saved. I have small children and as a mother, I want the best for my kids...that's natural. But if I work my whole life, throwing myself into the world, to get them set up materially and they fail to get saved, then, my friends, the way I see it is that all will have been in vain. This is a message that needs to be shouted from the rooftop!!!!!!! Enjoy it...

If You're Not Saved, Nothing Else Matters

You Better Stop and RECOGNIZE!

What a real blessing it was the other day for me to find Old Paths Sermons. They have such a wealth of great preaching from great men of God. I was ecstatic to find they had , like, 40 something messages by the late, great Dr. Percy Ray! He's one of my favorites and truly men of God such as he are few and far between in this day of compromise.
Here's a message by Dr. Ray that calls us, as born again children of God, to get our heads out of the sand, so to speak and learn to see the devil's plot and doings (in our homes and churches).
